# Legal services I act for people in criminal, employment, landlord and tenant, corporate, small claims and other matters. I’m Jonathan M. Kleiman, Barrister and Solicitor, licensed by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO #95128S). Mithril Law is my practice. ## Fees - Negotiation and litigation: CAD 499 + 20% of what is recovered, plus HST and disbursements. I negotiate and, if needed, sue. CAD 499 plus 20% of what is recovered, on the Law Society’s standard contingency fee agreement form. - Shareholder agreement: Quoted before you commit plus HST and disbursements. Drafted and negotiated by me, flat fee. - Financing documents: Quoted before you commit plus HST and disbursements. SAFE, convertible note or priced round documents, flat fee. - Filing and hearing (landlord): Quoted before you commit plus HST and disbursements. I file and appear at the hearing, flat fee per file. - Representation (tenant): Quoted before you commit plus HST and disbursements. Flat fee, or a contingency where a compensation claim supports it. - Legal Aid certificate: Legal Aid Ontario certificates accepted for criminal defence matters. - Private retainer: Quoted before you commit plus HST and disbursements. Flat fees by stage, quoted before you commit. - Consultation: Quoted before you commit plus HST and disbursements. A consultation with me about your matter. - Retainer: Quoted before you commit plus HST and disbursements. Money paid into trust under a signed engagement before the work starts: a retainer, a flat fee, or the flat amount of a contingency fee agreement. - Call: Free. A short call to see whether I can help. Fees are quoted up front, before you commit. Legal fees paid before the work is done are held in trust. ## How taking on a matter works 1. You ask, on the site or through an assistant acting for you. 2. I check the names against my practice records and this site’s records. If I have a conflict, I refer you elsewhere. 3. You and I meet at a time you pick. 4. If I take the matter on, you sign an engagement letter (or the Law Society’s contingency agreement), confirm your identity and, where the fee is paid up front, pay into trust. 5.
