Software terms
Contents, 9 sections
These terms cover Mithril’s software: the tools on mithril.law, the API and the MCP server. The software is provided by Jonathan Kleiman, as an individual. Legal services are provided separately by Mithril Law under an engagement letter (see how legal engagements work).
1What the software is
The software applies Ontario law to the facts you give it. It calculates amounts and dates, checks documents against rules, prepares documents, and tells you what you have to do yourself. Every step shows the rule it relies on and whether a lawyer has verified that rule.
The software gives legal information and prepares documents. It is not legal advice, and using it does not make you a client of Mithril Law or of any lawyer. When a matter needs legal judgment, the software says so and offers to send it to me.
2Your part
- Give accurate and complete facts. The answer is only as good as the facts.
- Read what the software prepares before you use it. You decide whether to send, serve, sign or file anything.
- Keep your account secure. You are responsible for what is done with your account and your API keys.
- Don’t use the software to harass anyone, to break the law, or to overload the service.
3Agents and developers
If you connect an AI agent or an application:
- send only facts the person gave you;
- give consent links only to the person they are for;
- stop at the lawyer boundary and don’t present answers as legal advice;
- keep your API keys secret.
I can suspend a key or a client that breaks these rules.
4Prices and payment
Every price is shown before you pay. Paid documents are produced after payment. If a paid document is not delivered because of a fault on my side, you get a full refund. Subscriptions renew until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the period you have paid for. Metered API use is billed monthly after the free allowance.
5Accuracy
I verify each rule against its source before it is published, and I watch the sources for changes. Still, the law changes and facts differ. The software shows the date of the law it used, and receipts show whether a rule has changed since.
6Liability
To the extent the law allows, my total liability for the software is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Ontario law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
7Your data
See the privacy policy. What you enter is used to answer you and, if you ask, to send your matter to me. It is never used to train AI models.
8Changes and law
I may update these terms. The version in force when you use the software applies. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
